Kay Johnson Adams

Kay Johnson Adams, 78, died on January 28, 2022. She was born on November 26, 1943, and grew up in Alexandria, Louisiana and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1960. She was married to Thomas Michael Couvillon from 1962 until 1987 and had four children. Kay was married to Ernest Eugene Adams from 1989 until his death in 2013. She lived in Houston, Texas from 1971 until 1993, where she was employed by Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company (Transco). In 1993, she moved to College Station, Texas, where she was employed by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). In 2020 she moved back to Houston, Texas, to be nearer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband Ernie Adams, her mother Bess Johnson, and her brother, Gordon Johnson.
She leaves behind four children: Karen Couvillon Needham and husband Brett Needham, Amy Couvillon Eikel, Thomas Michael Couvillon, Jr. and wife Dominique Bellon, and Elizabeth Kathryn Couvillon. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Tanya Needham McGoey, Nicole Needham Walsh, Leah Couvillon, Sandra Kay Eikel, Laura Eikel, Cameron Eikel, and Aidan Couvillon. She also leaves three great-grandchildren: Bryan McGoey, Patrick McGoey, and Owen McGoey. Kay enjoyed watching Aggie baseball and other sports, gardening, reading, book clubs, and water aerobics. She spent many years enjoying and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Those of us who have lost Grandma Kay will continue to care for each other, and strive to carry on her legacy of love.
A funeral Mass will be held in celebration of Kay’s life on Monday, March 14, 2022, at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church at 7810 Cypresswood, Spring, Texas 77379, with visitation at 10 am and the funeral Mass at 11 am. Interment will be private.
