Dovo "Irene" Luguvi

August 31, 1989 to October 10, 2026

We gather here today to remember, mourn, and celebrate the beautiful life of Dovo “Irene” Luguvi. We come together to honor her life, cherish the memories we shared. Dovo was born on August 31, 1989, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where she spent the first years of her life before relocating with her family to Swaziland. In 1998, Dovo and her family were granted the opportunity to come to the United States. They settled in Houston, Texas, where she attended Roy P. Benavidez Elementary School, followed by Jane Long and Pin Oak Middle Schools.

Dovo continued her education at Bellaire High School, where she graduated with an impressive 4.7 GPA and summa cum laude honors. Her academic achievements earned her a full-ride scholarship to Rice University, among other offers. She attended Rice University for four years, learning a Bachelor of Science degree. Dovo dreamed of becoming a cardiologist. While pursuing that dream, she chose to continue her journey in healthcare through nursing, with plans to pursue her master’s degree in the future.

Dovo was a daughter, a sister, a second mother, and a dear friend to so many. She was truly one of a kind. Her personality could fill a room, and her presence brought love, warmth, and joy to those around her. She had a way of making herself unforgettable, and those who knew her understood just how special she was.

Dovo was the fashionista of the family, always dressed to impress in her marvelous outfits. She had an eye for beautiful pieces and loved thrifting. She would often say, “I just want to give these beautiful clothes a good home.” Her unique style was a reflection of her vibrant personality. Of all the things Dovo loved, her family held the most special place in her heart. She loved her family deeply and consistently put their needs before her own. She was a source of love, support, and strength. She was like a second mother because she was always there for everyone, and her love was unconditional.

Dovo will be forever missed. There will never be a day when we do not think of her or a moment when her absence is not felt. Her love will continue to live within us. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and the impact she made on our lives will never be forgotten. We will carry her love, and the memories we shared in everything we do.
