James H. Lamb Sr
October 18, 1942 to October 14, 2026
Heartfelt & Personal
James H. Lamb Sr., known affectionately to all as Jim, passed away on October 14, 2026, in Channelview, Texas, following complications of lung cancer. He was 83 years old.
Jim was born on October 18, 1942, in Dade County, Florida, to Harry Hollis Lamb and Dorothy Lamb. He attended Miami Dade High School and, in the early 1960s, answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone.
In May 1964, Jim married the love of his life, Mary S. Helms. Together they built a loving home and welcomed four children between 1965 and 1973. Theirs was a partnership marked by devotion, and Mary's memory remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Jim pursued his lifelong passion for working with his hands as a mechanic, a trade he loved dearly. He worked for many years with Pan American Airlines and later retired from Ryder and Ryan Transportation. Such was his devotion to his craft that he returned to work in 2010 with PCO Div II Inc., finally retiring in 2019 after his diagnosis.
Jim was a man of great humor, warmth, and kindness, qualities that endeared him to everyone fortunate enough to know him. He delighted in watching MASH and Wonder Woman, and he never met a bowl of ice cream he did not enjoy. His laughter and generous spirit will be remembered by all who loved him.
A believer in the Christian faith, Jim continued to watch and listen to church services on television in his later years when he was no longer able to drive, finding comfort and strength in his quiet devotion.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary S. Helms Lamb, and his parents, Harry and Dorothy Lamb.
He is survived by his four children, James H. Lamb Jr., Eva M. Reynolds, Sally Anne Larrabee and her husband Charles Larrabee III, and Julie K. Lamb; eight grandchildren: David, Robert, Chris, Ashlee, Trae, Charles IV, Melissa, Matthew; nine great grandchildren: Lana, Jaysyn, Max, Benjamin, Blake, Caleb, Liam, Kimber, and Georgia; his brother, Harry Lamb, of Ottawa, Canada; a great niece, Mary Ellen and great nephew, Jay in Houston, Texas; a niece, Melanie and nephew, Percy in Ottawa, Canada; a niece, Miranda DeZeeuw and her husband, Brian in Michigan with two great nephews, Sebastian and Nico; and a nephew, James E Helms and his wife, Betty in Pembroke Pines, Florida; 2 great nieces Courtney and Anita, and a great-nephew, Bryden in Louisiana.
