German F. Bernal
September 21, 1966 to April 18, 2026
German Ferdinando Bernal passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerardo Bernal. He is survived by his sons, Joseph Bernal, Michael Bernal, German Bernal Jr. (Margarita), and Joshua Bernal (Delila); his mother, Lourdes Bernal; his siblings, Jerry Bernal (Iveth), Adelina Wake (Tim), Enrico Bernal (Cynthia), and Cathy Bernal Shaw; his granddaughters, Athena and Eliora; as well as many nephews, a niece, extended family, and dear friends.
German was born on September 21, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was raised in Houston, Texas, a city he proudly called home.
German never met a stranger. He had a gift for connecting with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. He was the life of the party, a loyal friend, and someone who brought energy and laughter wherever he went. Known for his sense of humor and playful spirit, he was a jokester at heart, always making others smile. Above all, he was simply a lovable soul who made life brighter for those around him.
He had a deep love for Houston sports, especially the Houston Astros, and took great joy in celebrating their successes, especially their World Series victories. Beyond sports, German loved music, movies, and all things retro. He enjoyed collecting action figures throughout his life, holding onto the nostalgia and joy they brought him. In later years, he developed a special love for dogs and animals, which became a meaningful source of happiness.
German faced many health challenges in his final years, but through it all, he remained resilient. He continued to find joy in life, kept a positive outlook, and never lost his ability to make others laugh. His strength and spirit were an inspiration to those who knew him. Later in life, he accepted the Lord and made a sincere effort to grow, choosing positivity in both his words and actions. That commitment to becoming better and spreading light is a lasting legacy he leaves behind.
German was taken from us too soon, and his absence leaves a deep void in our hearts. Still, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace, restored, and reunited with loved ones who went before him.
He will be remembered for his laughter, his warmth, and the joy he brought into every room. He was deeply loved, and he will be profoundly missed.
A celebration of German’s life will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft St, Houston, TX 77081.
Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate his life. A reception with food and beverages will follow.
