Byron Link, 51 years old, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in Houston, Texas,

surrounded by his loving family

Byron was born on August 15, 1974, in Houston, Texas, to Michael Marston Link Sr. and

Beatrice Jackson Link. He was the youngest of two sons, growing up with his older brother, Michael Link, Jr. From a young age, Byron was full of life and laughter. His exuberant personality, bright smile, and infectious humor could light up any room. If Byron called you a friend, you were more than a friend—you were family. People were naturally drawn to Byron, much like the sun, and those who knew him well remember his love of conversation, joking, and making every moment lively.

Byron attended schools within the Houston Independent School District from 1st through 8th grade and graduated from Lutheran South High School in 1994. He was a talented athlete, excelling in basketball and track. Byron held state records in the high jump and 100-meter dash for many years, a testament to his dedication, determination, and athleticism.

He later attended Texas Southern University (1995) before earning a Forklift Operator

across the Houston area, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to make his coworkers smile. Byron married the love of his life, Robin Mock Link, in August 2002. Together they shared a life filled with laughter, love, and family. They were blessed with two children, Kierra Renee Link (Paolo Cargill) and Kesean Byron Link, and one beloved granddaughter, Zariyah Kamille Cargill, who brought immense joy to Byron’s heart.

Byron had many passions beyond sports. He was a foodie who loved to cook, often

recreating restaurant meals at home with flair and care. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and listening to music. His was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip and Joclara Link, Edna B. Ferguson, and Johnie Mack Jackson, as well as his uncle’s Larry Ferguson, Phillip Link Sr., Lamar Ferguson, and Aunt Jessie Jackson. Byron leaves behind his wife, Robin Mock Link; daughter, Kierra Link (Paolo Cargill); son, Kesean Link; granddaughter, Zariyah Cargill; parents, Michael and Beatrice Link; brother, Michael Link Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Byron will be greatly missed, but his memory will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
