I worked with Darren for nearly a decade, and he was one of the best co-workers I´ve ever had. Darren had real heart for people, and a lot of personal integrity too. Quiet strength to the max. Darren kept things safe and running smooth so advocates and staff could fully concentrate on each client´s case. He was a major contributor to LSLA´s work and a big part of why Lone Star´s cases have been won or otherwise gone well. Darren was never one to self-promote, brownnose, or attempt to gatekeep higher ups, which made him highly respected among colleagues at all levels. Although he was always diplomatic he was also fearless, which was very much appreciated and admired at LSLA, especially since he never bragged about any of it. He had a genuinely kind heart, he was savvy, he was honest - which is why he was & remains loved here by many. It may help to remember that our loss is Heaven´s gain & we will see him again in time. Ascend to Heaven, my friend!

Visiting our Houston office on occasion, I was always uplifted to see the smiling face and welcoming demeanor of Darren as he “guarded the gates” of Lone Star Legal Aid. Just as he did his work on this earth so well—inclusively, without judgement. and always heartfelt doing whatever he could to accommodate others, I know that he sits at the gates of Heaven beside St. Peter doing the same good work, but now with much more meaning and satisfaction. God bless you always Darren, we will miss you immensely and immeasurably. Your friend and colleague, Dana
