Sterling Obichim Ofoh
July 18, 1999 – May 7, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we mourn the passing of Sterling Obichim
Ofoh, age 25, of Okuwdor, Imo State, Nigeria, who departed this life on May 7, 2025,
following a sudden and tragic event.
Sterling was born on July 18, 1999, at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas,
to Sylvanus and Ify Ofoh. He was the beloved first son and third child of the Ofoh family.
From a young age, Sterling had a passion for sports and video games, particularly NBA
2K and Madden. He went on to play football in middle and high school, proudly wearing
jersey number 63 as a defensive end and tackle at Westbury High School in Houston.
His athletic talent earned him a scholarship to play collegiate football at Briar Cliff
University.
Beyond the field, Obichim, affectionately known as Obi, was a culinary genius. His love
for cooking began at home, learning from his parents and sisters in the kitchen. Over
time, he became the family’s go-to chef, known for his delicious, carefully crafted meals.
His specialty grilled chicken became a signature dish at family events, and many
encouraged him to start his own catering or restaurant business. Cooking was more
than a skill; it was his love language, and he poured his heart into every meal he made.
After his football career, Obi pursued a new path as a pharmacy technician. His
dedication to his work and his kindness made a lasting impression on coworkers and
managers alike. Always willing to help, even on his days off, Obi was known for his
reliability, generosity, and warm spirit.
To those who knew him best, Obi was more than a son or brother, he was a steady
presence, a caring friend, and a bright light. He gave so much of himself to others,
never seeking attention, always offering love.
Sterling is survived by his loving parents, Sylvanus and Ify Ofoh; his siblings: Ebony
Ezinne Ofoh, Golden Nmachi Ofoh Nwoye, and Bright Anaekene Ofoh; his close
cousin, Adora Chiamaka Ndukauba; and a host of extended family members and dear
friends who will miss him deeply.
Though his time with us was far too short, Obichim’s memory will forever live in our
hearts. His light, his laughter, and his love will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Obi. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
