Graciela O Perez

Graciela passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 31, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was born on November 17, 1946, to her beloved parents, Elias F. Ortega and Gregoria Ortega. Graciela married the love of her life, Jesse Perez, on July 8, 1976, in El Paso, Texas. Together, they raised their son, Roger Xavier Perez, and daughter Roxanne Perez. Graciela was also affectionately known as Chela.
Chela attended Mansfield Business School for Office Administration. She worked for a few years before deciding to become a full-time homemaker to care for her children and husband.
Chela started studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1980 and dedicated herself through baptism on June 5, 1982. She served as a pioneer for many years, making many friends throughout the years. Chela was a giving person who loved all her friends in the congregation and her little friends (kids) even more.
Chela became a grandmother for the first time in 1996. There are no words to express how much her granddaughters meant to her. For the next 28 years, she was actively involved in her granddaughters’ lives, loving them wholeheartedly.
Graciela is preceded in death by her father Elias F. Ortega, her mother Gregoria Ortega, her brothers Oscar, Elias F. Jr., and Juan R. Ortega, and her husband Jesse Perez. She is survived by her son Roger X. Perez, his wife Jennifer Perez, daughter Roxanne Perez, her grandchildren Desiree M. Perez, Kristiana A. Perez, Jazmin-Breannah Perez Lopez, Laila N. Lopez, Andrea J. Floyd, Rebecca R. Brown, and great-grandchildren Mikayla M. Martinez and Zoe A. Rivas.
Graciela was loved and will be missed dearly.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 10707 Seneca St, Houston, Texas 77016, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1 o’clock P.M.
Revelation 21:4 says, 'And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.'
