Uncle Tim was always the fun uncle. He had a big personality and a love for adventure that made time with him unforgettable. More than anything, though, he was a devoted dad. Ricky and Rachael were always his top priority, and he loved them deeply. He brought that same energy to being an uncle. Holidays with him were never boring. He’d pull up in a fast car, then take me out on Louisiana backroads to push the speedometer past 100 mph. He was the first person I knew with a 6-CD changer in his car, and he took pride in keeping it spotless, teaching me how to properly detail a car down to the last little piece. He never hesitated to splurge when his nephews were around, taking us to the movies, surprising us with an Xbox, or trusting me at just 15 to drive his car through Houston traffic. Tim lived life in a way that was uniquely his own. He valued his freedom, sought out excitement, and made sure the people he cared about knew it. In later years, he showed appreciation and kindness toward the people in my life, including my kids. His presence was always felt, and he had a way of making even ordinary moments more memorable. I’ll miss him a ton, but I’ll always remember the fun, the generosity, and the way he lived life on his own terms.

My father was the most loving dad I could’ve ever asked for. I have so many memories at home or on our many trips together. When I was 10 years old my father decided that he would take me and my brother Ricky on “separate vacations” due to our constant fighting. But he told us we would have to write him a 1,000 word essay about where in all of America we wanted to go, and why. My father loved to challenge us into a reward. My brother Ricky wrote a paper about going to Disney Word and Orlando. I wrote a paper that I wanted to see the Grand Canyon and also a show on the Las Vegas Strip. We both were taken on our trips. Standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon with my dad is one of my fondest memories of us together. Afterwards we shot guns off of mountains and at a beautiful spot surrounded by rare Saguaro cactus. I appreciate all of the friends and family of my father Tim being there for me and my brother. We love you and it will take time for us to grieve this terrible and unexpected loss. Whatever your higher power may be, he IS THERE and comfort will come again. - Rachael Hagen Figueroa

One thing Uncle Tim loved was for things to be super super clean including his house and his car. His saying was “More Windex more paper towels.” He would pay me, give me all the Dr. Pepper I could ever want, take me to Dave and Buster’s, and buy me new shoes and clothes. I have a really cool memory of riding in his rental cars he loved to drive. On one particular summer day we had car trouble and parked in the far left shoulder. A cop seeing that we were in a Crown Victoria though we were a cop and went across lanes to let us in. It was a really cool moment. He was the typical fun uncle who I have many great memories with at his house in Houston, Texas, here at home, out and about at different places including Grandfather Mountain and Red Rocks Amphitheater and at Papa and Grandma’s house in Kentwood, Louisiana. At the school building I have memories of shooting his guns one in particular was a Tommy Gun. It was awesome! Also I got my first Xbox 360 the year I turned 15. It was a really thoughtful gift! I got to play a game that came with it Halo 3 ODST. He was a very fun uncle and knew how to have a good time. He loved well and was a hard worker. He will be greatly missed! I loved him a lot and will miss you greatly. Thank you God for all the memories I got to have with my uncle Tim! Jeremiah aka Joe (the nickname my uncle gave me because my name was too long)

Tim will always hold a special place in my heart. I knew him since we were teenagers. Even though we have not seen each other in years we stayed in contact through social media. My heart is broken that he is gone from this life but my heart will forever cherish Tim and the memories of him. I pray for Tim’s family that the peace of Jesus that surpasses all understanding will keep your hearts and minds. Rest in peace my sweet friend. I love you Tim, Sherry Travis Blades
