Deacon Sunday Adebowale Amona

Deacon Sunday Adebowale Amona, born on February 20, 1956, in Sogunle, Lagos, Nigeria, was the third of four children of Pa James Sobajo Amona and Ma Dorcas Olayemi Amona. A brilliant scholar and leader, he attended Local Authority Primary School, Moslem Grammar School, Odinjo, Ibadan (where he served as Male Head Prefect), and the University of Ibadan, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. It was at Moslem Grammar School that he met his lifelong partner, Folake Olaiwola (née Disu), the Female Head Prefect, and together they built a loving family blessed with three daughters.
Professionally, Adebowale served in federal parastatals before committing his career to the Nigerian Immigration Service, retiring in 2006 as an Assistant Controller of Immigration. Upon relocating to Houston, Texas, with his wife, he embraced his faith as a dedicated member and ordained Deacon at The Apostolic Church. He also founded Pathfinder Logistics, assisting countless individuals with immigration services, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
Deacon Amona is survived by his devoted wife, Folake; their cherished children and spouses, Olabisi and Abayomi, Ibijoke and Oriyomi, and Olayemi and Haba; as well as his beloved grandchildren, siblings, and extended family. Known for his impeccable style, generosity, and unwavering faith, Adebowale’s legacy of kindness, service, and family devotion will forever be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
