Judith Farley
December 13, 1938 to November 09, 2024
Judy Farley was ready to enter heaven peacefully at 4:50 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2024
at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. Her beloved husband, four children and step daughter were
with her before she passed away. She almost reached the age of 86 but a broken hip and a
massive stroke got in the way! The Lord had a plan.
Judy was born on Tuesday, December 13, 1938 to Ernest and Irene Hoff in Jennings, LA and
went on to lead a life spent passionately and endlessly caring for four children, twelve
grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. One can understand her love, commitment and
effort to family even better when knowing she helped her youngest child raise triplet boys and
a daughter with exceptional results and contributing to helping raise nine other grandchildren!
Caring for family often included cooking everyone’s favorite dishes, like her special meat loaf,
fried shrimp and deviled eggs. She took the whole family on“Together Again”vacations. The
“Together Again” reunions proved highly popular for all the families involved!
Judy started out in Jennings, LA but moved to Lake Charles with her parents before the I-10
bridge was built over Lake Calcasieu in 1952 to make her father’s commute to work easier.
Together, they tore down two houses along I-10, while saving the nails, and built a new one in
a new suburb of Lake Charles. After settling down in her new home and finishing high school,
she fell in love with George Greene and their adventures in life began. George took a pipeline
job with Conoco-Phillips. His job took them all over the country, and this had a very positive
effect on her children. Sadly, George passed on in 1990 before most grandchildren came
along. Life goes round and round.
Judy was constantly taking college courses in business, nursing and laboratory technology
which got her a job in the lab at St. John’s Hospital (now Houston Methodist Clear Lake). This
work fascinated her but then, along came Carl Farley who she married in 1993. Retirement
for both soon followed which saw her active with the 55 and Better Senior Group at the
CLUMC, working for non-profits like ICM-Food Pantry and traveling extensively to see her
grandchildren as adults and visiting many foreign countries. Needlework filled up a lot of
Judy’s free time in later years-beautiful quilts and afghans and even dish cloths which the
grandchildren enjoyed immensely.
Judy Farley was a pragmatic, loving, accomplished wife, mother, grandmother and
homemaker who left a deep impression on everyone around her. She led a full, meaningful
life here on earth and our Lord has surely taken this into account when he greeted her at the
pearly gates. Who knows, maybe He took her by the hand and said “Laissez les bons temps
rouler”!
Judy Farley will be sorely missed by the large family she cared for over so many years. They
consist of: Carl Farley, husband, League City, TX; Sheila Wahl (Ronald), sister, Gross Ile, MI;
Debbie Bogner (Kurt), daughter, St. Petersburg, FL; Vicky Faber (Ken), daughter, Palatine, IL;
