Nora Jo Martin
Was born on May 12th, 1951, in Sour Lake, TX. She was the third child of seven. She
attended Hardin Jefferson High School, where she was well-known for being “tough”
with a huge heart and a sense of humor that could light up any room. She passed away
on September 5th, 2024. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and
friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Norma McDaniel, a mother- in -
law Odelia Taville Martin, her siblings, Jack Webb, Emma Viola (Cookie) Johnson, and
Howard McDaniel, a nephew Isaac McDaniel. A brother-in law Clarence Martin, two
Stepsons Harris Frank Martin Jr. and Isaac Martin, as well as her son, Jack Andre’
Martin.
Nora is survived by a large and loving family, a testament to the love and care she
shared throughout her life. Her husband, Harris (Moose) Martin, and her children: Larry
McDaniel and wife Wendy McDaniel (their kids Hollie, Wendell, Andrew, Noah, and
Jackson); Johanna Salinas and life partner Raja (her kids Rolando Jr., Matthew, and
Lazarus); June Martin (her kids Lucious [Wayne] and Miah); Norene Martin (her kids
Brandi, Haili, Kennendi, and Noah); and Lorretta Carroll and husband Nkosi Carroll
(their kids Nkosi (Sky), Nkose (Nick), and Na’Layah) and granddaughter Ke’era Andrea
Martin.
Her siblings’ brothers, James McDaniel and wife Julie McDaniel, Johnny McDaniel and
life partner Sheryl Jones, and Andrew McDaniel Jr. and his wife, Donna McDaniel. Also,
a dear sister in Christ, Barbara Papillion.
Nora also leaves behind stepchildren: Markiffia Martin, Mona Martin and husband
Patrick, (their kids Darrell, Lanissia, and Ashley), Marlo Martin (their kids Devon, Devin,
Chelsea, and Shanice), and Daniel Martin (their kid Daniel Jr.). Vicky Martin (her kids
Isaac Jr., Infinity). A sister-in-law, Matilda Martin (her kids Erica and Tracie), and a
brother-in-law, Lawrence (Hotshot) Martin. Thirteen nieces and nephews and a number
of loving great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of other beloved
relatives and friends.
