Melvin Green

Mr. Melvin DeWitt Green, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the son of the late Patricia A. Dirden and Jesse B. George, and was born August 4, 1967 in Houston, Texas. 

Melvin attended the public schools in the North Forest School District. After high school, he continued his education at HCC Collage. At an early age he  professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

Melvin Enjoyed family time, basketball and football.

He began his career as a skilled steel machinist. Later, he worked various jobs as an excellent CDL Truck Driver, as this too was his passion.

As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many and his influences will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He quietly departed this life, Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at home. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia A. Dirden; father, Jesse B. George; one sister, Zeresta Dirden; grandmother, Gloria Johnson; grandfathers, DeWitt Green and Sterling Johnson.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished by Tashawon Mattox and two brothers, Melvin Dirden Jr. ( Latesia) and Louis Dirden; one sister, Tisha Lee’ Cha McCullough and the lives of his children, Jermael Jones, Trinity Simmons,  Taylor Green, Alexandria Green-Stewart,  Melvin Green Jr., Jeremy Holland, Joctavian Holland, Trevor Green, Patricia Green and 18 grandchildren; grandmother, aunts and uncles, devoted family members and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and his childhood friend, Edrick Hardy.

There will be a service from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
