Deputy Esmeralda Luz Galvan

March 03, 1982 to September 04, 2023

With heavy hearts, we communicate the passing and funeral arrangements for Deputy E. L. Galvan.

Deputy Esmeralda Luz Galvan was a native Houstonian born on March 3, 1982, whose passing on September 4, 2023 was a shock to all who knew and loved her.  She now reunites with her father, grandmother, and nephew whom she yearned to see again.

It is hard to sum up any life, but it is particularly difficult to describe someone like Emmy, and a traditional obituary simply doesn’t seem adequate. Emmy had a personality that could brighten any room, and a laugh that could fill it.  She had a razor-sharp sense of humor, and she was delighted being with friends and colleagues. A boisterous and fun-loving person, Emmy brought life to any gathering.

For the last nine years plus, Emmy worked with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Her law enforcement career began at the Harris County Jail as a Detention Officer. Then, during COVID, she diligently attended the police academy, graduated, and became a Deputy – a profession she absolutely loved and was well-suited for.

As hard as she worked, Emmy’s playful side emerged at work, too. She was the official party planner, showing up with giant balloons for her colleagues’ birthdays. Her choices sometimes seemed more than a little quirky, but it was just Emmy’s way of having fun and making people laugh.

Sadly, despite all the joking and laughter, Emmy’s life was far from easy, and at times she was deeply wounded. Perhaps that’s one reason why she had such a close bond with her pets. Animals are loyal and devoted, and they offered Emmy unconditional love and acceptance. Everyone who knew Emmy knew how dedicated she was to her “farm”. There wasn’t a bird, cat, dog or bunny that she did not want for herself; and, over the years, she adopted many. SO MANY!

Emmy, you will be missed beyond measure. The loss of your striking intelligence, your humor, your caring spirit and keen advice will leave a void in all our lives. There are no words to describe the pain felt by your grandfather Manuel, grandmother Eloisa, your mother Belinda, your son Elijah, your siblings and extended family in Houston and Corpus Christi, friends, and colleagues; and, of course Aria, Yvonne and Angelina.  You will be in our hearts and prayers forever and we are eternally grateful for giving us your all!

Rest in peace, pretty girl.
