Archie “Butch” Fred Maywald Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Butch Maywald, a remarkable man whose life was a testament to his values of family, long lasting friendships, hard work, and loyalty to those he loved and respected. He departed from this world on August 28, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and unwavering principles that touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on September 21, 1967, Butch grew up embodying the virtues of resilience and integrity. These qualities were exemplified by his dedication to hard work. Butch graduated from Jersey Village High School in 1986, accepting a full ride football scholarship to Southwest Texas State University where he would graduate in 1992. During his time at Southwest, Butch distinguished himself as a passionate football player, exhibiting the same determination on the field as he did in all facets of his life, leading to a position working as a defensive back coach for the University following his graduation.
While Butch 's achievements were remarkable, it was his character that truly set him apart. He was a man of few words but profound actions, allocating his time and energy into hard work and dedication without ever seeking recognition or complaint. He spent the past 15 years working for DPS Contracting as a Project Manager. He loved his work family. His work was not just a reflection of his commitment to personal growth, but also an embodiment of his deep love for his family and friends.
Butch is best known for his quick wit, adventurous spirit, ability to fix anything, always having the right tools, giving the shirt off his back for just about anyone, his crazy dance moves, his infectious smile, his devotion to his wife and kids, his passion for coaching, his positive attitude in the bleakest situations his love for the Lord, and teaching his kids how to be upstanding individuals.
At the core of Butch's being was his devotion to his family and friends. He cherished his role as a loving husband, dedicated father, caring son and brother, and a loyal friend. His interactions were filled with warmth, kindness, laughter, and genuine concern for others. He taught those around him the importance of loyalty, humility, and integrity and the value of leading a life guided by principles. His legacy of honesty and hard work will forever remain an inspiration to all who know him.
Butch leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Alisa Maywald and their four children, Colton, Kinley, Avery and Luke. Butch 's memory will be carried on by his family, along with his loving parents, Archie and Doris Maywald; his sister, Teresa Baronowski and her husband, Tim and their children, Ashlyn and Cody; his brother, Tim Maywald and his wife, Liz and their two children, Blake and Callie, along with the countless friends and extended family that were fortunate to share in his life's journey.
He leaves behind a legacy built by love, laughter, hard work, and a commitment to family bonds that will continue to shape generations to come.
As we gather to honor the life of Butch Maywald, let us remember the lessons he taught us – to approach life with determination, to hold our loved ones close, to live with unwavering honesty and integrity, and to live life to the fullest every day. Though he may have left this world too soon; his spirit lives on in the values he instilled and the lives he touched.
May Butch find eternal peace with our father in Heaven, and may his family and friends find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him. In his memory, let us strive to embody the same dedication, love, and integrity that defined his remarkable journey.
We want to give special thanks to our church family at Magnolia Cowboy church for “being the church” over the past year and for all the love and support through this process. We are forever grateful for your love, support, and friendship.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m with a service to begin at 12 noon at Magnolia Cowboy Church, 23245 Glenmont Estate Blvd., Magnolia, Texas 77355.
