Ray Edward Johnson
January 07, 1951 to August 17, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Husband, Father and Grandpa, Ray Edward Johnson (72) of Houston, Texas. He passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, after bravely battling a sepsis and pneumonia infection.
Ray was born on January 7, 1951, to the late Leamon Earl Johnson and Ruth Edress (Tyler) Johnson. Ray was also preceded in death by his brother, Edward Earl Johnson.
Ray graduated from Reagan HS, joined the Marines, and did two tours of duty in Vietnam. After the Marines, Ray retired from Southwestern Bell after 33 years. His after-retirement job of 17 years was with WalMart where he enjoyed socializing with many customers.
Ray is survived by Vickie, his loving wife of 30+ years; son, Kevin Johnson and wife, Alison; grandchildren, Travis, Dylan, and Harlie; son, Jason R. Johnson, son, Andrew C. Johnson, and their mother, Beth; stepdaughters, Jamie Featherstone and granddaughter, Jenna Bunyan; Jennifer Martinez and husband, Jesse, and grandkids, Johnny, Julia and Jillian; Carly Crawford and husband, Matt and grandkids, Jaxon, Jace and Drew; along with many other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Ray was a very caring and loving Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. He not only was a proud Marine, but he was also generous and kind, creative, an avid reader, and someone who had an infectious smile and laugh that would light a room with his sense of humor. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Graveside services will be held at the VA Houston National Cemetery on Friday, Sept 22nd, 2023 at 1:15pm.
Praising God for the time we had with him!
