Martin Zamarano Ramirez
January 27, 1964 to July 16, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Martin Zamorano Ramirez. He passed peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, July 16, 2023, after a sudden battle with stage-four cancer. Despite the pain, Martin came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Martin was born on January 27, 1964, in his hometown of Mexico City, Mexico. He grew up with 11 brothers and sisters who would describe him as adventurous, imaginative and deeply caring. At the age of 13, Martin was found skipping school to attend a basketball tournament and won his first and final trophy. To encourage Martin to quit skipping school, Mr. Zamorano introduced Martin to the world of mechanical and automotive engineering where his newfound love for building engines began. Martin learned his craft amongst his father and brothers.
Martin met the love of his life, Deanna, while attending a carnival in the summer of 1981, then married in the Spring of 1986. Martin and Deanna had their firstborn, Alexis, in the summer of ’87 and while expecting his son, Eric, in 1989, Martin embarked on his new life in the U.S. Martin’s career debut in the U.S. was with the famous THUNDERBOLT Transmission shop. He later went to work closer to home at Alliance Diesel and Engine where he made a name for himself as a young Master Machinist. Deanna and Martin would then have their youngest daughter, Denise, in 1993.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Martin; from cooking authentic Mexican dishes, making his famous home-made Salsas, his well-known dad jokes (that only made sense in Spanish), his random outbursts of funky dance moves and his immense love of sharing them with others. Martin was very proud that he was able to work for the City of Houston and that his one-of-a-kind expertise and talents will never be forgotten. Those who had the pleasure of experiencing his magnetic aura, fondly say he was a father figure to many.
Martin was immensely loved and will be remembered by his wife of 37 years, Deanna; children, Alexis, Eric and Denise; mother, Maria; siblings; Juan, Alejandra, Judith, Fabiola, Laura, Sebastian, Suzanna, Mario, Gerardo, Claudia and Gabriela.
Martin was predeceased by Raymundo Zamorano.
There will be a funeral service from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023 at Pnuema Church, 3402 Runnels Street, Houston, Texas 77003.
