Luis Eduardo Salazar

January 12, 1951 to July 01, 2023

Luis Eduardo Salazar, beloved by all who knew him, was born on January 12, 1951, in Havana, Cuba, into an aristocratic family. On July 1, 2023, at 6:20 am, he entered heaven's gate, driving his beloved yellow Ferrari.

Luis's journey began in Cuba, where he attended the prestigious Instituto Edison, excelling in all areas, particularly history, reading, and math. His exceptional mathematical abilities led him to study calculus by the fourth grade, earning him a place at the esteemed Colegio Orta School. However, it was his athletic prowess that earned him a spot on the Cuban fencing team.

At the age of 14, Luis and his family sought refuge in the United States, leaving behind everything they knew in pursuit of a better future. They arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana, with nothing but hope. Luis attended Cor Jesu High School, now known as Brother Martin's, on an academic scholarship. His passion for exotic automobiles was ignited during his childhood, as he often accompanied his father racing their families’ fleet of Packard cars. In New Orleans, Luis pursued engineering at the UNO but soon found himself consumed by his love for exotic cars.

After convincing his mother to take a leap year off, Luis used a $500loan from a friend to open his own dealership in the heart of New Orleans. Alongside his dealership, he also established a repair shop specializing in challenging automotive problems, where he proudly wore a stethoscope like a doctor. Soon after he met the love of his life, Deborah, his soulmate. Together, they embarked on a new journey to Texas, where they founded a community auto dealership in League City, which thrived since 1995.

Luis is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Deborah Nettles-Salazar; his sons, Luis Eduardo Salazar II, Luis Antonio Salazar; his daughter, Jessica Salazar and his son, Eduardo Medina Jr. and his wife, Ayssa. He also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren, Kadance  Jambon, Aria Salazar and Adalyn Salazar. Luis was a loving uncle to Martha Rosa Salazar, brother-in-law, to James Nettles and cousin to Armando Regueiro and Lourdes Maria Regueiro, among countless other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Eduardo Luis Jose Felix Severiano Salazar Gomez; his mother, Dr. Maria Teresa Salazar Regueira; his brother, Eduardo Luis Salazar Regueira and his brother, Juan Luis Salazar. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Eduardo Luis Salazar and Manuel Maria Sosonte Regueira Cordova, as well as his aunts and uncles, Dr. Mirtha Yluminada Regueira, Dr. Maria Magdalena Regueira, Manuel Armando Regalado Regueiro Tavio, Tomas Apolonio Reinaldo Regueiro Tavio, and Manual Eusebio Regueiro Tavio.

Luis was known by many names, each reflecting a different aspect of his vibrant personality. To his beloved wife, he was a soulmate. His athletic prowess earned him the nickname "bullfighter," while his   quiet nature led others to affectionately call him "man of few words." His love for adventure and sophistication drew comparisons to James Bond 007, and his charm and wit reminded others of Ricky from "I Love Lucy." Above all, he was lovingly referred to as "daddy-o" by his sons.

Though Luis's departure from this world feels untimely, we take      solace in the fact that he lived a remarkable and fulfilling life. He had a deep personal relationship with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which brings us comfort during this difficult time. Luis Eduardo      Salazar will be dearly missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
